John Roberts has been part of Fox News since 2011. However, the news anchor has since been hospitalized following shivering while working on-air. Roberts himself has opened up about the situation, even having recently broken the story on social media.
John Roberts Has Worked With Various Outlets Over The Years, From CBS News To Fox News
Roberts, a native of Toronto, got his start in journalism working for local radio stations and television networks in Canada. In 1992, he moved to working with CBS News in New York.
By 2006, Roberts moved on to working with CNN. He later joined Fox News in 2011 as a national correspondent, working to help cover breaking news stories.

As shared by People, Roberts was revealed to have been diagnosed with a severe case of malaria earlier this week. This also came out after Roberts felt himself shivering while on-air.
Speaking with the publication, Roberts shared, “I had been hurting from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. Literally everywhere. I was also beset with uncontrolled shivering all during my show.”
Roberts continued, “Initially, I thought it was just muscle cramps and aches. But when I started shivering, I started to lean toward the flu.” The journalist became worried when he learned that his platelet and white blood cell counts were both low. He noted, “My rheumatologist told me to go to the ER.”
Once he was hospitalized, Roberts was given his diagnosis. He shared, “I thought, ‘Of course you have malaria… You never do anything in small measures.’ But I was a little scared. Malaria can be deadly if left unchecked.”
Roberts Previously Broke The News Of His Diagnosis On Social Media
The illness is known to be mosquito-borne. Roberts shared that he believed he might have contracted it while vacationing in Indonesia. Though he didn’t remember being bitten, he admitted few felt sick a little over a week after returning home.
When he was hospitalized, Roberts shared he was treated with IV artesunate. Since then, he’s been feeling “up and down” throughout his recovery process. He shared that this past Wednesday, “I felt horrible all day. I also have wild swings in temperature every hour. I’ll be shivering and shaking like a leaf… the next I’ll be sweating.”

At this time, Roberts hopes to be discharged soon. He is aiming to return to work on Tuesday, September 2.
Prior to this, Roberts shared his diagnosis on social media. Thanking Trace Gallagher for filling in for him, he noted, “Thank you to Trace for jumping into the chair today! I somehow came down with a severe case of Malaria. I can honestly say that I am the only person in the hospital with Malaria. In fact, one of my doctors said I’m the first case he has ever seen. Thanks to the folks at @InovaHealth for their expertise and compassion…!”
