Hollywood Star Valerie Bertinelli, 63, Demolishes Hater Who Said She’d Had Botox – ‘You’re Trying To Shame Me’

The Hollywood star Valerie Bertinelli of “One Day At A Time” fame took to social media on Sunday to shut down a hater who she alleged tried to “shame” her for getting Botox injections.

Bertinelli Hits Back At ‘Botox’ Comment

In a video posted to TikTok, Bertinelli responded to a social media user who wrote to her that “The Botox looks great,” a comment that the 63 year-old actress did not take as a compliment.

“I know you didn’t mean that as a compliment, but let’s talk about it, shall we?” Bertinelli began, according to Fox News. “I have tried Botox.”

“I’m going to try to find a picture of why I hated it,” she continued as she pulled up a photo from six years ago.

“As you can see from that picture, it doesn’t look like me,” Bertinelli admitted. “It sort of like changed the shape of my eyebrows. And what I thought it was going to do was help me with my genetically puffy eyes. They’ve always annoyed me. I’ve always wanted those deep-set eyes. Don’t have ’em. Never going to get ’em. So, just live with it.”

Not stopping there, Bertinelli went on to say that she has not had any alcohol “basically this whole year” because she feels that it makes her eyes appear puffy.

“I still have puffy eyes,” she stated.

Bertinelli then shifted to explaining why she’d decided to devote an entire TikTok video to one social media comment.

“This is why I wanted to talk about your comment,” Bertinelli said. “Because you’re trying to shame me, and you’re a woman. Like, what made you go out of your way to try to shame me? And I’m not the first person to try to be shamed on TikTok or Instagram or any place.”

“So, we’re women. We have to stick together, OK?” she added. “Don’t shame somebody if they want to do something, anything, to make themselves feel better as they go out into this insane, flippin’ crazy world, OK? Some people can do Botox, it looks amazing on them. I am not one of them, unfortunately, or I would’ve kept doing it. But thankfully, it faded. I couldn’t wait for it to fade.”

Bertinelli concluded her video by saying that while she’d slept well the night before, she still felt that she had dark circles under her eyes.

“Genetics!” Bertinelli exclaimed. “So, let’s not shame people. We’re all in this together!”

    Bertinelli’s Difficult Few Years

This comes after a difficult few years for Bertinelli. Her ex-husband Van Halen, who she divorced in 2007 but remained close with, died in 2020 of cancer at the age of 65.

Bertinelli then went through a “wicked” divorce from her second husband, the financial planner Tom Vitale. She filed for divorce from him in November of 2021, but it took an entire year for it to be finalized as a bitter court battle ensued.

“11.22.22 second best day of my life,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram video after hearing that it was finally finalized.

“Happily divorced. God. Finally. It’s finally over. Yes!” she giddily said in the clip.

Aging can be difficult for anyone, but it’s particularly tough for female Hollywood stars like Bertinelli, whose looks are constantly put under a microscope. We can only hope that this one negative comment is not still on Bertinelli’s mind, and that she was able to move on quickly after posting her video response!
