Anaconda Reboot Surpasses $100 Million Milestone At Global Box Office

Anaconda Reboot Surpasses 0 Million Milestone At Global Box Office

The new Anaconda movie becomes only the second in the franchise to achieve a major box office milestone. The reboot features Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello as their attempt to make their own Anaconda movie goes disastrously wrong.

Per Deadline, after grossing $50.4 million domestically and $51.2 million internationally, the Anaconda reboot has now earned $101.6 million worldwide. This makes it the franchise’s first movie since the original in 1997 to reach a $100 million box office milestone.

The original Anaconda movie, which starred Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube, remains the franchise’s highest-earning installment with a global gross of $137 million. The 2004 sequel, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, made significantly less with a total of $70.3 million worldwide.

The other Anaconda movies made between 2004 and 2025 do not have box office totals because they were films made for television and did not have a theatrical release. Anaconda 3: Offspring (2008), Anacondas: Trail of Blood (2009), and Lake Placid vs. Anaconda (2015), all debuted on the Syfy channel.

Made on a reported budget of $45 million, the 2025 Anaconda has not only achieved a franchise milestone for the first time since 1997, but it is also looking to be profitable in its own right. It premiered on Christmas Day and has managed to perform well despite competition that includes Avatar: Fire and Ash, The Housemaid, Marty Supreme, and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.

With a 51% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Anaconda‘s reviews have been mixed. ScreenRant‘s Gregory Nussen writes that it is “Funny and surprisingly sweet yet ultimately as boneless as a snake.”

As indicated by the box office success and 76% Popcornmeter score, audiences have had a more favorable reaction, including praise for the ridiculous comedy and leading performances from Black, Rudd, and Zahn.

Anaconda also continues the trend of Jack Black movies being box office hits. A Minecraft Movie was one of the highest-grossing films of 2025, while The Super Mario Bros. Movie was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2023. Anaconda won’t reach the heights of The Super Mario Bros. Movie‘s $1.3 billion worldwide or A Minecraft Movie‘s $958.2 million, but it is still another box office success for Black.

In the aftermath of the new Anaconda surpassing $100 million globally, there is more potential for the long-running franchise to continue with further installments, possibly leaning more into comedy than horror as the reboot does, although nothing is confirmed at this time.
