Fan’s Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 LEGO Idea Deserves To Be a Real Set

Fan’s Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 LEGO Idea Deserves To Be a Real Set

A creative fan of Poppy Playtime has reinvented ‘Statues’ as a LEGO set, including a Player Minifigure and a LEGO version of PJ Pug-a-Pillar.

A creative fan of Poppy Playtime has reinvented Chapter 2‘s ‘Statues’ section as a LEGO set. The hit horror game recently launched its second chapter, once again inviting players into the terrifying depths of the Playtime Co. toy factory. While the indie release has become synonymous with its antagonist Huggy Wuggy, Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 introduced new characters including Kissy Missy and Mommy Long Legs.

During Chapter 2 of Poppy Playtime, players are tasked with making their way through a series of supposed children’s games devised by Mommy Long Legs. Ostensibly, this is to earn fragments of the code needed to operate Playtime Co.’s internal train line in order to escape the factory, but under the surface, it seems apparent that Mommy Long Leg’s real aim is to toy with and ultimately murder the player. Consequently, the player’s struggles to survive these ‘games’ make up a large part of Chapter 2. The third and final game, ‘Statues’, has players slowly make their way through an obstacle course while pursued by new Poppy Playtime character PJ Pug-a-Pillar.

A mock-up LEGO set based on this Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 sequence, complete with a GrabPack-wielding player Minifigure and a surprisingly cute LEGO PJ, has now been posted to Reddit by user imokinside. The 3D-rendered images are based on the initial part of ‘Statues’, which takes place inside a colorful maze based on a castle. There is an impressive amount of attention to detail present, mixed with the creativity that LEGO so often inspires. Minor features which truly sell the imaginary set include the colored parts of the castle walls and the GrabPack, as well as the fact that similar to official merchandise, the player character has no face.

There have been a lot of Poppy Playtime toys and merchandise released, but an official LEGO set isn’t something currently available. That being said, this isn’t the first set dreamt up by imokinside. The Redditor has also created LEGO versions of Mommy Long Legs and Huggy Wuggy, with more on the way. Considering LEGO’s universal appeal, an official Poppy Playtime set could be possible thanks to the game’s widespread popularity, though controversies over children playing the horror release likely mean LEGO wouldn’t be interested in launching an official Poppy Playtime product anytime soon.

Overall, imokinside’s LEGO set is very well designed, even if it might never become an official product. The ‘Statues’ sequence is a stressful part of Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 for many gamers. While unable to move, players are left either contemplating their next moves or checking on the inexorable progress of their pursuer. Of course, in the game, PJ is a murderous living toy, whose incongruously cutesy appearance adds further impact to the feeling of being slowly hunted down. While his appearance is naturally simplified in LEGO form, the mock-up set only increases the dissonance, giving LEGO PJ big googly eyes rather than the original’s more ominous pitch-black ones. Nevertheless, with memories of the deadly chase still fresh in many minds, this friendly-looking, fan-made LEGO set holds a very dark undercurrent.
