Following the news that Henry Cavill will not be returning as Superman, new details about his cameo in The Flash movie have been revealed.

Henry Cavill’s Flash Movie Cameo & Salary Details Reportedly Revealed

New details about Henry Cavill’s mysterious Superman cameo in The Flash movie and how much he was paid for it have emerged. 2022 has been an emotional rollercoaster of a year for Warner Bros. Discovery when it comes to their DC Universe (formerly known as the DCEU) properties. With CEO David Zaslav restructuring the new version of the company, DC Studios was recently launched to replace the DC Films division, with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over for Walter Hamada on the DCU. Under their leadership, they are now overseeing TV, film, and animation, especially in relation to the DCU as a growing universe.

    SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

This week has continued to be a dramatic one for DC Studios as the future of Cavill’s Superman was determined, with him officially not returning despite his appearance in Black Adam. While Dwayne Johnson’s DC movie was a big entry for Cavill’s Superman, he had reportedly also filmed a cameo for The Flash movie, which is set to release in 2023. However, according to The Wrap‘s Umberto Gonzalez, the scene, which would’ve seen him appear as Clark Kent, has now been deleted. Cavill was also reportedly paid $250,000 dollars for each of his DCU cameos that he filmed this year. Cavill, Warner Bros. Discovery, and DC Studios have yet to comment on this.

Why The Flash Movie May Not Use Cavill’s Superman Cameo

    The Flash and Superman

Even though it was probably a pivotal cameo, many may still wonder why The Flash movie wouldn’t use Cavill’s Superman material. While it’s still unclear if the DCU is doing a soft or full-on reboot of the franchise, there is a crucial factor that may justify why the studio is reportedly taking it out of the final cut. With Cavill’s Superman currently being done in the DCU, it begs the question of what will happen with other Justice League actors. If they are thinking of starting fresh with the Man of Tomorrow, DC Studios may look at Cavill’s cameo in The Flash movie as being pointless if it won’t lead to anything with the actor’s incarnation of Superman after the Ezra Miller-starring movie.

If the Flash cameo wasn’t meant to set up any major storyline for Cavill’s Superman, it does strike as odd not to use it. In the scenario where it’s a simple scene between Clark and Barry Allen socializing or having a brief encounter, there is no reason why they shouldn’t use it. Since Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is, right now, the last installment of the previous DCU regime, 2023 will supposedly be the end of this version of the franchise, bringing an end to many iterations of these DC icons. The Flash movie could have been used to give Cavill’s Superman and other DCU players a sendoff if DC Studios intends to do a massive reboot after 2023.

The outcome of Cavill’s return to the DCU as Superman is definitely not what many were expecting or hoping to see, as it seemed as if the star was really back for the long haul as the Man of Steel. With Gunn currently developing a new Superman movie that will follow a younger take on the character, time will tell what that does to the rest of the DCU. Whether or not The Flash movie will have any role in assisting, what appears to be, some kind of reboot for DC Studios will be revealed once the film arrives in June 2023.
