How to Make Yggdrasil Porridge (& What It’s For)

Yggdrasil Porridge is a new Craftable food that is essential for any player that wishes to use magic in Valheim, if they want to brave the Mistlands.

Yggdrasil Porridge is a craftable Food in Valheim, newly introduced with the Mistlands update. Unfortunately, like many other features introduced with the update, Yggdrasil Porridge is still limited to the public beta test state of Valheim, so players will only be able to access it if they are willing to accept some bugs. This includes the bug-like enemies, which will need to be dealt with for this food.

On consumption, the food grants players 80 Eitr, Valheim’s new magic resource, for as long as the food buff lasts. One Yggdrasil Porridge can be made on a level five cauldron for the cost of four buckets of Sap, three pieces of Barley, and two clumps of Royal Jelly. After picking up one of each of these ingredients, the recipe will unlock automatically, so there’s little to worry about in the unlocking process. Eitr is essential for using the staff weapons to cast fireballs or restore health and will only exist as a replenishing resource for a limited time before more Eitr-food is needed. So to keep the buff up, players will want to gather many ingredients.

How To Find Ingredients For Yggdrasil Porridge In Valheim

The Mistlands update has introduced many things to Valheim, but some things are easier to get than others. Players looking to make Yggdrasil Porridge will likely already have some Barley, as its native Plains Biome is less dangerous than the Mistlands. Players who don’t have any yet just need to raid a Fulling Village for an excellent starter crop. They can use the Barley right away, but it’s better to have a farmer’s mindset to save for future use. The player can set up a base or fort in the plains biome, then dig out a farm to grow their barley. Barley seeds take roughly an hour to an hour to a half to grow and produce a harvest of two barley. The entire process will require the player to craft a Cultivator.

Sap requires using Sap extractors placed on the nodes of Ancient Roots scattered across Mistland Biomes. Over the course of several minutes, the Sap extractors will drain the Roots of all their Sap, which they will then regenerate if left alone for a little while. Finally, Royal Jelly is a resource that can only be found in Infested Mines, either by killing Seeker Broods or gathered off the ground in piles. There is the option of fighting The Queen to get some, but that’s putting the cart before the horse. She’s currently the toughest boss in Valheim, and the player would benefit from having Eitr to cast spells with.
