The following contains spoilers for Only Murders in the Building season 4, episode 7, “Valley of the Dolls.”Michael Cyril Creighton, who plays Howard in Only Murders in the Building, addresses whether season 4, episode 7’s revelation is going to put his character in danger. In the latest episode, Howard figures out the Westies have been retracting Dudenoff’s check while the trio seeks safety away from the city. At the same time, the Westies realize that their secret has been revealed, which puts Howard in a very awkward position.
In an interview with TV Insider, Creighton spoke about how this revelation would affect his character. The actor said that by uncovering the Westies being the ones who have been cashing out Dudenoff’s check, he sends the show in “an incredible direction.” The actor further teases the final three episodes, including plot twists that are “hard to predict.” In terms of his character’s fate, the actor believed that Howard is “very resilient,” and though he gets into “sticky situations,” he always has a way of surviving them. “Takes us in an incredible direction that I don’t know that I can even articulate, but it is an incredible mystery. There are so many incredible mysteries this season. It’s not just one. And I was truly very excited to see how integral Howard was in cracking one of these mysteries.
I think the last three episodes are going to really delight you. I think it’s a really fun ride and very hard to predict.
I think Howard is very resilient. I think we should always be concerned for him, for sure. I think he gets himself into some sticky situations, but he’s going to be okay in the long run… I hope.”
He’s Probably Going to Survive
The actor has promised a wild ride and shocking revelation in the last three episodes of season 4. While there are many theories about whom the Only Murders in the Building season 4 killer might be, it’s still unclear why Sazz and the real Dudenoff were murdered and why the two are connected. Still, the trio are in danger due to their podcast being popularized, with the killer even watching them. In the meantime, Creighton’s comment also suggests that Howard will likely survive after figuring out the Westies’ secret.

Season 4, episode 7’s ending paints the Westies as possible killers, but given Creighton’s comment, they are likely not going to be the culprits. It makes sense for them to take Dudenoff’s cash after his death since they are renters who take advantage of the professor’s rent-controlled apartments. The Westies have secrets they don’t want others to find out, and the next episode is likely to surprise viewers with the revelation of what they’ve been hiding.

He’s Probably Not the Killer
Episode 7 has blown everything open by addressing the plot holes in season 1. With the killer being the same person who has taken a special interest in Mabel, Oliver, and Charles’ podcast and murder investigation since the beginning, he or she is likely someone we’ve already seen on the show. The trio investigated Howard as a suspect in season 1, and he passed the test.
Howard also doesn’t fit the profile. With him being integral in the investigation, he’s very unlikely to be the killer. If Howard was targeting the trio, he would try his best to mislead the investigation instead of helping them solve the murders. Everything Howard did points to the opposite. While whoever the killer(s) is a mystery that’ll be resolved in the coming Only Murders in the Building episodes, it can be assured that it’s likely not going to him.
