Kristen Bell & Adam Brody’s New Netflix Show Is A Reminder To Watch Their Underrated Comedy From 11 Years Ago

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Nobody Wants This!

After watching Adam Brody and Kristen Bell’s new Netflix show, Nobody Wants This, viewers should watch their underrated 2013 drama-comedy movie. Netflix’s hit romantic comedy was released on Sept 26, debuting to an almost perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. The show follows Joanne (Kristen Bell), a jaded agnostic podcaster who falls for Noah (Adam Brody), an attractive and charismatic rabbi.

While all the cast in Nobody Wants This gave incredible performances, making their characters nuanced and three-dimensional, Bell and Brody’s incredible chemistry created a star-crossed love story to root for. Kristen Bell has appeared in many rom-coms, and Adam Brody has a few under his belt as well. Shockingly, they’ve never appeared in this genre together before. However, viewers who enjoyed Nobody Wants This might want to check out another one of their projects – a vastly underrated dramedy called Some Girl(s).

Kristen Bell & Adam Brody Starred Together In Some Girl(s) Before Nobody Wants This

Kristen Bell And Adam Brody Are Exes In Some Girl(s)

Eleven years before Nobody Wants This was released on Netflix, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody appeared in the 2013 dramedy Some Girl(s), a movie based on the play of the same name by Neil LaBute. Some Girl(s) is a slow but fascinating glimpse into the mind of an apathetic, calculated, and loathsome man who says he wants to absolve himself from his past relationships before getting married. However, the movie quickly draws into question how much he’s actually grown and changed.

Though they’re both technically classified as comedies, Some Girl(s) is extremely different from Nobody Wants This. The former leans into dark humor and scathing wit about traumatic situations, while the latter is frothier with conventional humor. Watching Some Girl(s) after Nobody Wants This will show how broad a skillset both Adam Brody and Kristen Bell have.

Kristen Bell & Adam Brody Have A History Of Being In The Same Movie

Kristen Bell Has Appeared In 3 Movies And 2 TV Shows Together With Adam Brody

Though Nobody Wants This is their first romantic comedy, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody have appeared in the same movie and TV show five times. They played an unlikely couple during Brody’s three-episode arc on House of Lies, but their roles in films together don’t boast the same chemistry.

In Some Girl(s), Brody and Bell play exes who are hostile towards each other, though The Man tries to act like the “good guy,” only showing aggression when she doesn’t do what he wants. When they appear in both Scream 4 and CHiPs, they don’t act opposite each other. In Scream 4, Brody plays a police officer, while Bell is in the opening credits. In CHiPs, Bell plays Jon’s wife, while Brody is an FBI agent. After seeing them in so many projects together, it’s satisfying to see Bell and Brody as the main characters in Nobody Wants This.
