While some weren’t sure that Russell would return to Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters season 2, he’s officially been confirmed to be back for another season. The second season of Apple TV’s MonsterVerse has been set to premiere in February 2026, and the series will have a sizable run. With 10 episodes, viewers will get the chance to stick with the universe until May.
Russell’s role wasn’t certain for most because Shaw’s fate was left completely up in the air at the end of Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters season 1. With Shaw appearing both in the 1950s as Wyatt Russell and in the present timeline as Kurt Russell, the elder Russell wasn’t a lock during the finale. Thankfully, Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters season 2 has promised major reveals with both Russells on board.

He’s Venturing Outside The MonsterVerse
Not only will viewers get the chance to see Russell return to the role of Lee Shaw in 2026, but he’s also expected to venture outside the MonsterVerse in the new year. Russell has been announced as a part of Taylor Sheridan’s new Yellowstone spinoff, The Madison, which also stars Michelle Pfeiffer. Following a New York City family as they relocate to Montana, Russell will co-lead.
While the details of Russell’s character have been kept under wraps, it seems likely that his character will be married to Pfeiffer’s Stacy Clyburn. With strong Western credentials in his past, Russell is a great addition to the Taylor Sheridan universe, especially knowing the creator’s rugged style of storytelling. Between Monarch and The Madison, 2026 is going to be a great year for Russell on the small screen.
