She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’s Wong actor says he’s open to a solo MCU series and expresses his love for playing the Sorcerer Supreme role.
On the heels of his appearance in the series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law‘s Wong actor Benedict Wong has confirmed his interest in a solo Marvel Cinematic Universe series. Wong previously made his MCU debut in the first Doctor Strange as a teacher at Kamar-Taj who helps Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular character in his journey towards becoming a mystical hero. Wong would later appear as Wong in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, as well as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Wong first appears in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 3, in which he was called upon to act as a witness for Abomination’s trial after helping Tim Roth’s former MCU villain escape in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The 51-year-old actor would later appear in episode 4 as he hired Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walter to prevent Kamar-Taj reject Donny Blaze from preventing any major dangers in his practicing of the Mystic Arts. With his run in the series seemingly at an end, one She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star is sharing their thoughts on where Wong could go next in the MCU.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss hs franchise return, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Benedict Wong opened up about calls for a solo MCU series. The Wong actor confirmed his interest in appearing in his own project, teasing his own ideas of where to take his character next. See what Wong shared below:
You know, a lot of people have said that. Yeah, I could certainly think of some ideas. But hey, it’s not for me to push that. If you ever see anyone, send the question over there. I mean, look, I love playing this role, and I think there’s so much more scope that we could go into with a series, yeah.
Since his MCU debut in the first Doctor Strange, Wong has become a widely acclaimed supporting character, with Benedict Wong scoring strong reviews for the subtle sense of humor he brought to the role as well as the stylish action. Given Spider-Man: No Way Home set Wong up as the MCU’s current Sorcerer Supreme, many have expressed their interest in exploring what his new position means for the franchise moving forward. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness offered a brief glimpse into Wong’s new position within in the MCU, being tasked with protecting Kamar-Taj from evil forces, such as the Darkhold-corrupted Scarlet Witch, and leading the charge to train new sorcerers in the ongoing war to protect the Earth.
While already a breakout character going back to the Beyonce-based jokes of the original Doctor Strange, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law‘s Wong further became the subject of audiences’ cries for a spinoff after the introduction of Patty Guggenheim’s Madisynn. Many have called out for a show specifically centered around the duo, similar to audiences’ calls for a Woo and Darcy spinoff centered on Randall Park and Kat Dennings’ WandaVision characters, thanks to the surprise chemistry between the surprising pairing. While audiences wait to see if theirs, and Wong’s, solo MCU series hopes come true, they can revisit the character’s franchise tenure with both Doctor Strange movies, Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame and the first five episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law available to stream on Disney+ now.
