Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – 10 Questions We Have After The First Two Episodes

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – 10 Questions We Have After The First Two Episodes

The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi have met fans’ long-held expectations for Ewan McGregor’s return to the titular role and answered a slew of questions they have had for months, if not years. However, as any good TV show usually does, the episodes did not reveal everything, far from it in fact, and have left fans with even more questions to ponder over in the weeks to come.

Some of these questions fans had going into the show, and some have arisen due to shock scenes within the debut episodes, but no matter where they came from, Star Wars fans are sure to get answers to them over the next four weeks.

What’s Going On With The Grand Inquisitor?

    Star Wars Grand Inquisitor

Obi-Wan Kenobi shocked audiences on numerous occasions throughout its two episodes, but perhaps no moment was as surprising as when Reva appeared to kill the Grand Inquisitor.

As Rebels fans know, the Grand Inquisitor dies after a battle with Kanan in which he voluntarily falls to his death, not at the hands of Reva, so many have been left wondering what is going on. Of course, the simple answer will probably be the correct one; he is alive, and that will get mentioned at some point over the next four episodes.

How Do The Rest Of The Inquisitorius React?

Sung Kang as the Fifth Brother and Moses Ingram as Reva in Obi-Wan Kenobi

The rest of the Inquisitorius, particularly the Fifth Brother, seems to strongly dislike Reva, infuriated by her attitude and recklessness, so it will be curious as to how they react to her apparent killing, or at least attack, of the Grand Inquisitor.

The Sith as an order values this kind of move, so it looks as though she may assume temporary control of the Inquisitorius until the Grand Inquisitor returns, but it is hard to imagine them being happy about it, and that dynamic will be brilliant to watch.

Will We Spend More Time With Leia?

Young Leia on Alderaan in Obi-Wan Kenobi

The star of Obi-Wan Kenobi is undoubtedly Ewan McGregor, but thus far young Leia, played by Vivien Lyra Blair, has stolen the show with her incredible energy and spark that aligns beautifully with what fans always assumed Leia was like as a ten-year-old.

Given that Obi-Wan completed the request of Bail and rescued Leia, presumably en route to Alderaan to deliver her back, fans have to wonder if that is the last they will see of her. She may well be in the opening of episode 3, but outside of that, it seems unlikely – audiences can hope, though.

Where Are We Going From Here?

Many fans thought that this show would be contained mostly on Tatooine, with the inevitable trips to Daiyu and Nur seen in the trailers, as well as to Mustafar. Now that audiences have been shocked with Alderaan, though, does this mean there are other locations in play?

It will be interesting to see if Obi-Wan himself goes to Alderaan with Leia or simply delivers her to Bail – perhaps on Tatooine – but even if he does the latter, fans are wondering if this will be his last time off-planet. It is hard to imagine how other locations would fit into this story, but since Alderaan blended in so seamlessly, it is not impossible.

Will, We See Obi-Wan Change The Way He Acts Now?

Ewan McGregor in Obi-Wan Kenobi Show

Obi-Wan is a broken man at the start of this show, drained, with no faith in himself and no hope, seen ignoring all the wrongdoing that crosses his path and ignoring the call to action multiple times. But then Bail calls for the man he once knew to return and save his daughter. Now that Obi-Wan has answered that call and tapped into who he is deep down, will audiences see more of that going forward?

Obi-Wan will still be dealing with trauma – especially after the revelation at the end of episode 2 – but now that he has tapped into the Force and helped someone who needed it, will fans see him act slightly more like the Obi-Wan of old when he gets back to Tatooine? This question may go unanswered as he evades the Empire and Inquisitorius, but even despite the trauma, a shift in Obi-Wan’s attitude is likely.

    How Does Reva Know?

Obi Wan Kenobi show Moses Ingram Reva

Fans wondered for a long time whether or not Obi-Wan knew of Anakin’s survival, and the show answered that he did not, with Reva revealing that Vader lived but also revealed that she knows that Vader is Anakin Skywalker.

This begs the question of how? It is well established that very few people know his identity, and people who figure it out usually die, so how did Reva find out? And on top of that, why is Star Wars’ most powerful villain allowing one of these Inquisitors, whose lives he has been proven to not value, to live with that information? Perhaps he does not know that she knows, nevertheless, she is, thus far, a fascinating character, and that looks set to continue.

Was That Reva In The Opening Flashback?

    Obi-Wan Order 66 Flashback

The opening of Obi-Wan Kenobi gives audiences yet another devastating look at Order 66, this time with a Jedi Master protecting a group of Younglings, one of whom looks like she could be a young Reva.

This would explain a lot, and it is well established that many of the Inquisitorius are former Jedi who have fallen to, or have been lured to, the dark side of the Force. Whether this is the case or not, fans are rightfully fascinated by Reva’s character, who has the potential to be one of Star Wars’ best TV villains.

What Are Reva’s Motivations & Personal Connection To Obi-Wan?

The Inquisitorius generally see killing Jedi as almost transactional, their job, their purpose, only perhaps forming personal connections to certain Jedi out of frustration that they have not yet killed them. But Reva seems to have deep personal issues with Obi-Wan.

She is obsessed with hunting and killing him and seemingly has been for years. What are her reasons? What are her motivations? Is she merely trying to curry favor with Vader, or is there something more at play? The answers to these questions will be crucial to the show.

Will Obi-Wan Get Through To Qui-Gon?

Going into the show, so many wondered if they would get to see Obi-Wan communicate with Qui-Gon and undergo the training Yoda gave him in Revenge Of The Sith. Thus far, it has been teased, but fans are left curious as to whether this will pay off.

Twice so far, Obi-Wan has called out to his former Jedi Master, his mentor, and a man he greatly loved and admired, but has not gotten a response, not too dissimilar to points in Yoda’s quest to communicate with him in The Clone Wars. Now that Obi-Wan has tapped back into the Force, it seems likely that Qui-Gon will return in the show.

    How Does Obi-Wan React?

Ewan McGregor In Obi-Wan Kenobi Trailer

Two of the most significant moments of the entire show were always going to be the moment Obi-Wan found out about Anakin (if he did not already know) and the first look at Vader in the show. They came as a package deal in a masterfully done moment.

Now, though, fans are wondering how Obi-Wan will handle the news, how this will affect his psyche, and how it might pile on to the trauma he is already struggling to deal with. The way Obi-Wan reacts to this gutwrenching news will likely help build even more tension and emotion to their inevitable meeting,
