    Today’s Connections Hints & Answers For November 23, 2024 (Puzzle #531)

If you feel like you are not getting the most out of today’s Connections puzzle, you may need a little bit of a pick-me-up. In order to help you along, we have a host of tips and tricks ready to get you back on your feet and happy to be solving the puzzle again. Today’s puzzle had an interesting difficulty to me, as I had some trouble but realized what was going on shortly after. Either way, here are my hints that should help you have less difficulty than I did.

If you want a puzzle that also involves connecting words under a shared theme, the daily Strands game has a similar feel. While it is a word search, there is an overarching theme for each puzzle and the words are all connected to that theme. The golden word is a particularly big hint about whatever that theme is. For instance, one puzzle was themed on Edgar Allen Poe, and the golden word was “Nevermore.”

    Today’s Connections Category Hints

    NOVEMBER 23 #531

If you want some hints to help smooth out the difficulty of this puzzle, you are likely looking for clues about the categories themselves. This is because the categories are the biggest determining factor in both the challenge of the puzzle and how quickly you can solve it. Often, this depends on your familiarity with the category topics, but there are exceptions. With that in mind, here are four clues:

    • One category is about ways to remember something that happened before
    • One category is about things that all come out of the same place/object
    • One category is about four things that are all constructed similarly
    • One category is about things that share an aesthetic detail

Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.

If you need some more help and more guidance on how to finish the puzzle, these category names will be key to helping you do so. If you are still unsure after that, keep scrolling to the end for full spoilers.

    TELLING OF EVENTS

    ACCOUNT

    CHRONICLE

    DESCRIPTION

    STORY

As this is what I not only do for a living but what I do in my spare time as well, this category was fairly easy for me to guess and finish. ACCOUNT is the one word I was not sure of, particularly because of some other words that came later, but it was the closest word to STORY that was in the puzzle that I had not already added to the group. That also helped me stay away from making a wrong “account” based group later.

    SECRETED BY TREES

    GUM

    LATEX

    RESIN

    SAP

This one I also made a mistake on before I got it right. It was unfortunate because I was able to make the connection, but I thought it might just be things all made with the same ingredients, so I guessed LICORICE instead of one of the correct options because that sounded about right to me. Regardless, I realized my mistake before it was too late and was able to get the right group, but not before it was very nearly fatal.

The Password Game can be frustrating as it uses complex mechanics that can be difficult to figure out, even with help.

    THINGS ON STICKS

    BALL-IN-CUP

    CORN DOG

    COTTON SWAB

    LOLLIPOP

This one was a little interesting, as I got the general gist but I also originally had LICORICE here. I am not sure why I wanted to put that one in every single category, but it was very nearly the end of my streak. Luckily, I got a hold of myself and stopped putting LICORICE in categories it shouldn’t be. Don’t be like me and get stuck on a single word. Learn from my mistakes and make better guesses than I do instead.

    BLACK OR RED

    BALANCE SHEET

    CHECKERS

    LICORICE

    ROULETTE

This was all that was left by the time I got here, but I did already guess that CHECKERS and ROULETTE likely went together for a myriad of different reasons. BALANCE SHEET and LICORICE were different, especially the latter for all the reasons you have already seen. However, knowing what the category actually is, everything here does make sense. What makes it hard is that they do not look like they’d go together at first glance, and when only two words seem to go together that is often a sign you’re not on the right track.

    Other Games Like Connections

If you want to keep puzzling, I would recommend staying away from Nerdle if you don’t like numbers or math like me, but I would recommend picking up Dordle because it is a great new way to try out a Wordle-like puzzle with an extra twist.
