Right-wing conspiracist Alex Jones went on a bare-chested, skin-obsessed rant following the revelation that The Onion will likely take control of his InfoWars brand.
Jones appeared shirtless on livestream for a belabored metaphor about The Onion having “stolen the shirt off (his) back,” as the host said.
“Just because you’re wearing my shirt don’t mean you’re me,” Jones said in a diatribe that also contained some questionable legal theory.
“We have a bunch of legal avenues,” Jones said. “It would be one thing if they just shut us down . . . but they’re gonna misrepresent that they’re us to confuse people and quote, ‘Rip people off like Alex Jones did.’ They’re gonna make money. The whole thing’s about defaming me. You can’t take something over and then act like you’re somebody, even if you say it’s a parody. You could do a parody of somebody, but not if you took something from them. We already checked with lawyers, so they’re in deep shit . . . So you guys just keep laughing.”
A significant focus of the rant, however, was epidermis. Jones mentioned “skin” four times in the approximately three-minute tirade.
Jones raved that “the left” are “bodysnatchers. They’re skin walkers. They literally take your skin.”
The Onion is “taking on our skin,” Jones said.
After the host said The Onion had resorted to “lawfare,” Jones had an addition.
“And then taking on our skin,” he said.
On April 19th, a deal was revealed for The Onion, the satirical news publication, to license InfoWars as part of Jones’ bankruptcy case. The deal must be approved by a judge, who Jones called “corrupt” in the rant, which likely won’t help sway the judge against approval.

The latest plan follows a decision by the judge to reject the sale of InfoWars to The Onion in December 2024. Jones declared bankruptcy in 2022 after a jury awarded $1.4 billion to the families of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting. Jones spent years claiming the shooting was a hoax and families sued.
With the bankruptcy, the court gave control of Jones’ InfoWars to a legally qualified individual known as a receiver who leverages the brand to pay back Jones’ debts.
For the newest deal, The Onion would pay about $81,000 a month to license InfoWars.
Tim Heidecker, comedian, musician and half of the Tim and Eric duo, would serve as creative director of the new InfoWars.
