Eric Idle to Debut New One-Man Show on Upcoming Tour

Eric Idle is bringing his new one-man show, “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, Live!,” to the west coast for a run of tour dates this fall.

The show gets its name from Idle’s “sortabiography,” Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, which arrived in 2018. Now, the Monty Python member has compiled standup comedy, original sketches, brand new songs, and, according to a press release, “exactly one fart joke” to form his new one-man show.

The tour kicks off on September 4th in Santa Barbara and continues in San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Santa Fe, and Los Angeles throughout the month. The run concludes with a September 27th show at the Balboa Theater in San Diego, California. After the tour, Idle will head to Australia and New Zealand for a brief run of shows in Australia and New Zealand. See the full list of Eric Idle’s tour dates below.

Tickets for the “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, Live!” tour will first go on-sale via an artist pre-sale kicking off on Tuesday, June 11th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Idle’s website (use password: NUDGE). Tickets go on-sale for the general public on Friday, June 14th at 10:00 a.m. local time. Fans can get tickets via StubHub, where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

Meanwhile, Spamalot — the Monty Python musical that he helmed with John Du Prez — recently closed in April after a Broadway revival took place in 2023. Idle also took to Twitter recently to clarify that while he and his former Monty Python colleagues own “everything” they made, changes in royalty distribution and mismanagement meant that they were not as “loaded” as people might think.
