Nia Archives has launched her own label called Up Ya Archives, and released its first track, ‘Get Loose‘ by Cheetah.
The jungle producer and DJ won acclaim for her debut album, ‘Silence Is Loud‘, earning BRIT and Mercury Prize nominations.
The new track fuses elements of soca and jungle, and features vocals and production work from both artists. It pays homage to Soundsystem and carnival culture, and is a tribute to letting out all of your energy on a raucous night out.
Nia Archives found Cheetah’s music on Bandcamp, and then continued to support him ever since. Speaking about the song, Cheetah said: “The track came together pretty naturally. It’s essentially an ode to soundsystem and party culture. It’s about that feeling of being completely one on one with the music, head buried into the rig and feeling the bass rattle your ribs.
“It’s all pretty simple but super energetic, the lyrics are literally an instruction. We took huge inspiration from soca letting the super energetic vocals take control of the track.”
Back in March, Nia Archives spoke to NME about the resurgence of jungle in recent years, and revealed that she is working on a “happier” new album. While on the red carpet for the 2025 BRIT Awards, she discussed how drum n’ bass and jungle have seen a massive increase in popularity over the past three years.
“Jungle and drum n’ bass always existed in the underground and historically always had crossover tunes, so it’s really cool to see younger people getting into the music,” she said. “I think having those crossover tunes has been bringing people into this [world of] underground music.”
At the BRITs 2025, Nia was nominated for Best Dance Act alongside Becky Hill, Chase & Status and Fred Again.., although the award went to Charli XCX.
Nia Archives featured in NME‘s Big Read in 2022, where she spoke about winning Best Producer at the BandLab NME Awards 2022, her musicial influences, and her desire to be creatively leading and making her ideas become a reality.
“I am involved in everything because the more I do, the more me it is,” she explained. “Without great art, videos, music, production and lyrics, I don’t think any of it would work. I really love getting ideas in my brain to come alive.”
She also spoke about emulating two of her heroes, Brazilian stars DJ Patife and DJ Marky. “They were the original samba-jungle pioneers,” she said. “It felt natural to me to make that kind of music. It just gives me this feeling I can’t describe – I love the way that it makes me feel when I listen to it.”
