    AOC Complains About Her Salary Again, Whining About The Cost Of Being A Member Of Congress


    Poor socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. First, she had to put up with all those icky Republicans wanting to date her, now she wants you to know that it ain’t easy being in Congress, with that $174,000 annual salary and perks for travel.

    Ocasio-Cortez, otherwise known as ‘AOC,’ took to Instagram to opine about her meager Congressional salary and the cost of living in Washington, D.C. and New York City.  

    For the record, the median household income nationally is less than half of her individual salary – at $67,000 in 2020.

    Congressional Haves And Have Nots

    AOC argued that having to keep a home in NYC and D.C. can create “class dynamics” between those Members of Congress who can more easily afford both residences and those who cannot.

    “It’s insanely expensive, there is no stipend or per diem for it, and you’re not allowed to write it off even though your job forces you to have it. This creates real class dynamics in the House. Many sleep in their offices, but if you are caught, it could get bad for many reasons, including violations.”

    While on social media, AOC talked about the stress of two residences and only pulling in $174,000. It is hard for a working class girl like Sandy from the Block to just get by.

    “I rent in both cities. It’s so so much. We have to find a new apartment in NYC soon and I’m STRESSED. Rent is wild and the idea of [apartment] searching and moving while legislating and campaigning is yikes.”

    It’s a good thing she doesn’t have to worry about that legislating part – but it definitely might cut in to her social media time.

    Just A Downtown Girl

    Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would like you to think that she is a working class girl from the Bronx, but there are places where her official biography and the truth do not necessarily intersect.

    Ocasio-Cortez was born in the Bronx, but grew up in Yorktown Heights, an affluent leaning suburb north of New York City in Westchester County. She lived in the house in Yorktown Heights and attended Yorktown High School until leaving to attend Boston University. Her father was an architect and owned his own architectural firm.

    It’s Called Living Within Your Means

    AOC might have majored in Economics at Boston U., but they apparently did not teach her about budgets. Or economics. Upon her election to Congress, she moved into one of the toniest apartment complexes in Washington D.C. If you want to be AOC’s neighbor, it will run you anywhere from $2,000 – $5,000 per month.

    But the pricey digs come with the prerequisite charging station for her new Tesla. In an interview in October of 2020 with Vanity Fair, she explained that she had decided to buy the car because of the pandemic, but she chose to go electric to, in her words, “silence the haters.” The car, the only Tesla model to get from NYC to DC on a single charge, runs somewhere between $48,000 and $60,000.

    But now that she is engaged, AOC is thinking about future expenses like a family. But isn’t this the same person who once asked on an internet video:

    “Our planet is going to face disaster if we don’t turn this ship around And so it’s basically like, there is a scientific consensus that the lives of children are going to be very difficult and it does lead, I think young people, to have a legitimate question. Ya know, should—is it okay to still have children? Not just financially because people are graduating with 20, 30, 100 thousand dollars of student loan debt so they can’t even afford to have kids in the house, but there’s also just this basic moral question, like, what do we do?”

    But that was so 2019. Now that she and fiance Riley Roberts, who is reported to be well off, may soon start a family, Ocasio-Cortez reports that only 10 women in history have ever given birth while serving in Congress. She calls the swamp “a very hostile place to have a baby.”

    To be fair, that’s true. It’s a very hostile place for any American, regardless of age.

    So between the issue of the dual residency, the paltry salary, and no student loan forgiveness anywhere in sight, it’s a hard knock life for AOC. Maybe she could get some stock tips from Paul and Nancy Pelosi. Or maybe get a job tending bar.
