Jim Jordan to January 6 Committee: If You Want Me to Comply, Hand Over Your Documents

Jim Jordan to January 6 Committee: If You Want Me to Comply, Hand Over Your Documents

Representative Jim Jordan is challenging the constitutionality of the January 6 committee investigating the Capitol riot and demanding they hand over documents before he considers responding to a subpoena.

Earlier this month, the committee, made up entirely of anti-Trump lawmakers, issued subpoenas to Jordan (R-OH), House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and three other GOP representatives.

Jordan responded with a six-page letter challenging the panel’s “constitutionality and validity.”

The congressman then demanded they “provide all documents, videos, or other material in the possession of the Select Committee that you potentially anticipate using, introducing, or relying on during questioning.”

The letter also describes the committee’s actions – accurately – as “a dangerous escalation of House Democrats’ pursuit of political vendettas.”

Jim Jordan Hammers January 6 Committee

In his letter, Representative Jim Jordan doesn’t hold back on why he believes the January 6 committee’s demand for testimony is “inappropriate.”

He accuses the Select Committee of having “violated House rules, selectively targeted its political adversaries, disregarded the civil liberties of witnesses and others, and leaked and altered nonpublic information.”

Indeed, the January 6 committee has been caught in the act in the past, very specifically having ‘leaked and altered’ information in the form of a text message from Jim Jordan himself.

The panel back in December admitted to doctoring a text message presented by Representative Adam Schiff as evidence at a hearing.

The message was between former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Jordan and, in its original form, was a three-paragraph summation of a legal briefing by lawyer Joseph Schmitz to Meadows, as forwarded by Jordan.

Schiff presented the text message as having come from Jordan himself, reduced the summary to one paragraph which itself was truncated, and added a period to create the illusion of it being the full statement.

The committee even created a graphic complete with a logo bearing similarities to a chat icon to make it appear as if it was a singular text message.

Breaking: Following @FDRLST reporting that Adam Schiff and his staff doctored a text message between Jim Jordan and former WH chief of staff Mark Meadows, the House Jan. 6 committee has just admitted that it did, in fact, doctor the text message.https://t.co/78aRNyOib7

    The Committee is a Sham

Why would Jim Jordan automatically assume he wouldn’t get a fair shake from the January 6 committee?

Aside from doctoring his text messages, the panel itself came to be because he and other Republicans chosen to actually make it a bipartisan effort in the first place were rejected from serving on the committee.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected Jordan as a member of the select committee, along with Representative Jim Banks (R-IN), and instead chose rabid anti-Trumpers Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) to helpfully peddle their narrative.

The move immediately made the effort an obvious partisan witchhunt.

Speaker Pelosi just admitted the obvious, that the January 6th Select Committee is nothing more than a partisan political charade. https://t.co/wGRO9fV2kt

As for Liz Cheney’s impartiality – she, according to a book, on the day of the Capitol riot, allegedly slapped Jordan’s hand away when he attempted to help her.

“That f***ing guy Jim Jordan. That son of a bitch,” she ranted to the authors of the book, “I Alone Can Fix It.”

“While these maniacs are going through the place, I’m standing in the aisle and he said, ‘We need to get the ladies away from the aisle. Let me help you,’” she claimed Jordan said.

“I smacked his hand away and told him, ‘Get away from me. You f***ing did this,’” Cheney continued.

Right. That certainly seems like an emotionally stable person willing to work with Jordan to get to the truth.

Speaking of truth, the committee is expected to provide their version of it in June when they hold six public hearings on the Capitol riot and former President Trump’s alleged role.

Congressman Bennie Thompson, the chairman of the select committee, stated, and we quote: “The public needs to know what to think.”

No worries, Bennie. The public already knows this committee is a ragtag group of Keystone Kop wannabes masquerading as serious lawmakers.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
