During the third day of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Georgia representative Marjorie Taylor Greene used her speaking time, during a speech before and audience of conservative activists from across the country, to go after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s recent remarks regarding America’s further involvement in the conflict against Russia.
Greene firmly said that Zelensky should keep his “hands off of our sons and daughters,” sparking almost immediate media criticism.
The Republican has been an vocal critic of the United States’ involvement funding and providing billions in aid and weapons to the Ukrainian fight against invading Russian forces, having claimed that this will only further escalate a potential war between the United States and Russia outright.
Her specific choice of words reference a recent series of remarks made by the Ukrainian president in February, in which he stated that should Ukraine fall to Russia, that other nations (including members of NATO) could encounter the same fate.

During a recent news conference discussing the anniversary of the first year of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Zelensky stated, “The US is never going to give up on the NATO member states. If it happens so that Ukraine, due to various opinions and weakening — depleting — of assistance, loses, Russia is going to enter Baltic states, NATO member states, and then the US will have to send their songs and daughters, exactly the same way we are sending, their sons and daughters to war.”
“And they will have to fight,” he continued, “because it’s NATO that we’re talking about. And they will be dying, God forbid, because it’s a horrible thing. I wish for peace and Ukrainian support to the United States.”
Greene told the CPAC audience that she would stay “committed to saying no money to Ukraine, and that country needs to find peace, not war.”
“And while I will look at a camera and directly tell Zelensky, you’d better leave your hands off of our sons and daughters because they’re not dying over there,” she added.

Liberals Lash Out
Obviously, as soon as her speech was over, liberals began to bash her remarks as well as those in attendance.
“Foreign Policy Fools,” tweeted Daily Kos contributor Aldo’s Pennyfarthing. “CPAC attendees act like like trained seals. I imagine MTGreene tossed them [fish] after each Pro-Putin statement.”

Democratic strategist Greg Pinelo added “Putin will do everything he can to help Republicans steal the 2024 election. His agents are in place,” thus spreading misinformation by referencing the disproven conspiracy theory claiming the 2016 Trump campaign colluded with Russia to ‘steal’ the 2016 election victory from failed candidate Hillary Clinton.

Greene Demands Accountability
Over a week ago, Greene had announced she intended to submit a bill which would force an audit of all the taxpayer dollars that have been provided to Ukraine during it’s yearlong conflict.
Greene stated, “It’s going to force Congress to give the American people an audit” she said during an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson. “And that is exactly what the American people need, an audit of Ukraine, because we have no idea where all this money’s going.”
She also added that “The only border they [Democrats] care about is Ukraine, not America’s southern border. Under Republicans, not another penny will go to Ukraine. Our country comes first. They don’t care about our border or our people.”
