The all-new Nissan JUKE Hybrid Rally Tribute is powered by a hybrid electric powertrain and ready to take on Dakar. It boasts a 1.6L four-cylinder engine making 93 hp and 109 lb-ft of torque, paired with an electric motor generating an additional 48 hp and 151.2 lb-ft of torque, while a second electric motor acts as an HSG (High-Voltage Starter Generator).
A low friction multi-modal gearbox provides efficient use of the propulsive power, whether electric, petrol or both. How so? The motorsport-inspired gearbox reduces friction by using dog clutches instead of conventional synchronizer rings to shift the 4 “ICE” gears and 2 “EV” gears, all without the use of an actual clutch. It always starts up as 100% electric, and the 2 EV motors are then used in combination to synchronize the gears to deliver smooth, connected and responsive acceleration. The JUKE Hybrid Rally Tribute still needs some work to catch up with Sebastien Loeb’s Prodrive BRX T1 Hunter Dakar Rally truck.
