HGTV made the shocking move to cancel several fan-favorite renovation shows in early 2025. Erin and Ben Napier’s Home Town survived that round of cancellations. In a new interview, Ben Napier hinted at when exactly the show will “come to an end.” Keep reading to find out more about the future of their HGTV show and its spinoffs.
Home Town Marks 10th Anniversary
Erin and Ben Napier were just a normal couple from Laurel, Mississippi, who enjoyed fixing up homes. They caught the attention of HGTV, which specializes in homes and gardens. The network’s main content is home renovation shows, making it a perfect fit.

The couple’s Home Town series premiered in 2016. They ventured outside Mississippi in the Home Town Takeover, which recently filmed its third season in Sebring, Florida. The fourth season films soon, but Ben and Erin Napier won’t be hosting it for a shocking reason. But fans can catch them on the flagship show. Season 10 of Home Town premiered earlier this month, with new episodes airing on Sundays on HGTV.
HGTV Star Ben Napier Reveals Show Will ‘Come To An End’
Ben and Erin Napier recently spoke to Too Fab about their future with HGTV. The video of the interview is currently unavailable, but TV Insider shared a summary. Erin Napier said that they got “lucky” when Home Town wasn’t canceled during HGTV’s mass purge.
Ben Napier said that their show probably wasn’t canceled because people love it so much. “At the end of the day, Erin and I feel like we are getting up every day and going to a normal job and going to work. And we love the people that we work with. We love what we get to do. Every day is a little bit different, and that’s taking out the big picture, which is this is an international television show.”

However, he admitted he wasn’t sure how much longer HGTV will continue with the show. Ben Napier said that TV looks different now than it did ten years ago and will look different in another ten years.
“You can’t hold on to anything. It’s all fleeting. It’s all, one day, going to come to an end. And we, luckily, work with a production company who, that was the way they set up TV for us. They said, ‘This may not happen. HGTV may watch it and decide, ‘You know what, we’re not gonna run it.’ And then, you had a really fun project and you got to renovate a beautiful house.’” Ben Napier said.
He added, “And so, the fact that it’s been going for this long feels unbelievable, like a dream.”
When Their Contract Is Up
Ben and Erin Napier previously told TV Insider that they would love to continue Home Town for as long as possible. But they had a condition. “If there is ever a point it feels like it might be affecting our family in a negative way, we walk away,” Erin Napier said.
However, it doesn’t seem either HGTV or the Napiers are ready to walk away from the show. According to several outlets, the HGTV stars are under contract until 2027.
