A bombshell Nancy Guthrie report alleges that investigators initially disregarded key evidence when Today co-host Savannah Guthrie‘s mother, 84, went missing in Tucson, Arizona, in February.
On Saturday, August 1, inside sources from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) spoke with The Wall Street Journal about Nancy’s investigation, led by Sgt. David Stivers.
“For hours, they gave little regard to the dried blood on the front porch,” WSJ reported, per sources familiar with the case. “They suspected the blood might have come from some unrelated head bump, nosebleed or other incidental injury.”
Ultimately, the blood was determined to be Nancy’s and is now considered to be connected to her abduction.
Additionally, WSJ‘s sources noted that Nancy’s back door was left propped open when her daughter, Annie Guthrie, first arrived at the home looking for her. Family members initially thought it might have been left open following a medical emergency, considering Nancy’s car, purse, and phone were still at the home.
Nancy was last seen at her Catalina Foothills residence on the evening of January 31. When Nancy missed a planned visit with a friend the next day, her family discovered the 84-year-old was missing and alerted local authorities. Despite the PCSD and the FBI working together to analyze DNA, video footage, and alleged ransom notes — and Savannah offering a $1 million reward — no suspect has been named in the investigation.
On the six-month mark of Nancy’s disappearance, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News Digital, “We’re not even close to these leads being dried up. We’ll continue to work them, and even if they all dried up and we had nothing else to go on, we have a cold case unit.”
Meanwhile, Savannah issued a “desperate” plea in a new Instagram video, calling for anyone who knows anything to come forward.
