‘RHOC’ Fans Slam Emily Simpson Exploiting Son’s Eating Disorder

Emily Simpson joined The Real Housewives of Orange County, and her main storylines were her marriage and her weight. Then, one of her sons developed various disorders, and that became the hot topic. However, RHOC fans are not thrilled, as they feel that the lawyer and mother of three has been exploiting her son’s issues. Keep reading for more on what they have to say.

    Emily Simpson’s Son Is Struggling

It was very hard for Emily Simpson to get pregnant, and she suffered several miscarriages. Ultimately, the RHOC star was lucky enough to have her sister carry her daughter, Annabelle, and her twins, Luke and Keller. She has stated that she wanted one more girl, but her husband, Shane, was good with what they had. Moreover, he had kids from a previous relationship, and their family was complete. Sadly, one of Emily’s twins, Luke, began struggling and was ultimately diagnosed with ARFID as well as other diagnoses.

In Season 19, Emily was very candid about what Luke was going through, how he may be autistic, and how he had an eating disorder. At first, it was interesting to learn about how she was navigating this. However, viewers soon felt that this became her sole storyline and that she was exploiting Luke. It also felt that he could not have a say in what was said about him, given that he is a minor. Emily is the one who signs off for him to be on the RHOC, so he is stuck.

Hearing Emily Simpson talk about Luke’s issues triggered some to flash back to other housewives. One who came up was Lauri Peterson and her son, Josh. He had battled addiction and ended up passing away. One fan had this to say regarding Emily:

    • Using your child’s eating disorder, addiction, or mental health struggles as a storyline is so f*cking disgusting. Children and teenagers cannot give informed consent and lack the awareness to grasp the long-term consequences and understand that what is shared today can stay online forever.

Moreover, they blamed Bravo and believed they needed to stop this from happening.

    A Shameful Situation

RHOC fans were very strong in their belief that Emily Simpson needed to find a new storyline. It could not always be about her weight issues and her son. They had grown exhausted by her, but to bring an innocent child into the equation was unfair:

Hopefully, Bravo realizes that children who cannot sign consent forms are not for adult entertainment. Do you agree that Emily Simpson should not use her son’s eating disorder for her personal gain? Let us know and stream RHOC on Peacock.
