A Texas father was booked into jail the day after he helped first responders pull his wife and three children from a pond near the family home. Domingo Quintana, 61, of Liberty, TX, found his wife and children in the water unresponsive and in critical condition. He quickly dialed 911. First responders arrived at the home to save the family. Quintana claims his wife was responsible. However, he was booked into the Liberty County Jail the day after the event on a misdemeanor charge. Keep reading to find out more.
Texas Mother And Children Nearly Drown To Death
Domingo Quintana called the Liberty County Sheriff’s department around 5:50 am on September 29th after finding his wife and three children in a pond unresponsive. Quintana alleged that his wife gave the children NyQuil and potentially alcohol and then tried to drown them. Domingo’s wife and children were rescued from the water by first responders. The mother and children, ages 15, 11, & 6, were found by first responders unresponsive. The mother and the 11-year-old girl remain in critical condition.

The Sheriff’s department shared details with the public in a press release. He stated the 15-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy were in stable condition following their ordeal. The Sheriff shared that the oldest child was awake, saying, “She’s very tired. She’s been through a dramatic incident involving her siblings and parents.” According to the Liberty County Sheriff, Domingo Quintana’s wife was also pulled from the water. She was removed from the water with a pulse. However, she was not breathing on her own. It was also reported that deputies had previously been to the location. The nature of those visits was not revealed.
Texas Father Arrested The Day After Pulling Unresponsive Family From Water
The day following the incident in the pond, Liberty, Texas, local Domingo Quintana was arrested and booked into the Liberty County Jail. Quintana was charged with a misdemeanor of cruelty to a non-livestock animal. His bond was set at $5,000. Records indicate that investigators found malnourished animals on the property. Officials reported an emaciated cat confined inside a non-climate-controlled shop building with no food or water on the property. It was also reported that deputies found other malnourished cats, dogs, and chickens at the Liberty, Texas home.

The Liberty County Sheriff department has not filed charges in relation to the near drowning of Quintana’s wife and three children. The Investigation remains open and active, and deputies are still gathering evidence. In addition, Child Protective Services has taken the three children into custody. Officials shared that once the three children are discharged from the hospital they will be placed into foster care. It is not clear if Domingo was able to bond out.
