Today‘s 24-week win streak at the top of the morning news ratings has come to an end as Good Morning America topped the chart in total viewers for the week of July 6.
According to AdWeek, citing Nielsen’s national live+same-day big data plus program ratings, ABC’s Good Morning America averaged 2.809 million total viewers (24,000 more than Today) and 416,000 viewers in the coveted Adults 25-54 demographic for the week of July 6. This was up 1 percent in total viewers but down 9 percent in the demo compared to the week before.
Compared to the same period in 2025, GMA, co-hosted by Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and Michael Strahan, was up 8 percent in total viewers and down 6 percent in the key demo.
NBC’s Today held onto the No. 1 spot in the demo with 599,000 viewers for the week of July 6 but dropped to second place in total viewers, averaging 2.785 million. This was down 1 percent in total viewers but up 5 percent in the demo compared to the week prior.
Year over year, Today, co-hosted by Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin, was up in both metrics, rising 18 percent in total viewers and 25 percent in the demo.
Meanwhile, CBS Mornings averaged 1.617 million total viewers and 253,000 demo viewers for the week of July 6. Compared to the week before, the show was down 7 percent in total viewers and 12 percent in the demo, making it the only morning show to post week-to-week declines in both categories.
CBS Mornings, hosted by Gayle King and Nate Burleson, was also down year over year. The show dropped by 11 percent in total viewers and by 6 percent in the key demo. It was the only morning show to post declines in this yearly comparison.
