Downey is an Irish actress who became known to audiences playing Monica the angel on the CBS series, Touched by an Angel. The show ran for nine seasons, from 1994 to 2003.
Over the years, Downey has been part of a number of faith-based projects, especially as President of MGM’s Lightworkers Media. This included portraying the Virgin Mary in the miniseries The Bible, which she also co-produced.
As she became famous for playing Monica, Downey became well-known for her long, fiery red hair. However, she has experimented with a few different looks over the years.
In a recent share on social media, Downey showed off a whole new look. Not only did she change her hair’s distinctive color, but she also changed its shape. On Instagram, the actress boasted a blonde bob, paired with a pair of sunglasses.
As Downey shared in the caption, she had already heard positive things about her new look from fans. She wrote, “I appreciate all the support for my new haircut! So many of you have left nice messages.”
Downey highlighted the change from her days as Monica. She shared, “I know it’s very different from my Touched by an Angel look. As many of you may remember, I had long, red hair for most of the series while playing Monica. And, yes, a blonde bob is totally different.”
The Actress Noted That Someone Very Close To Her Was Also A Fan
Downey partially attributed her new look to the current weather. As she continued, “But life keeps moving, time passing, and change is inevitable. It’s a hot summer and this cut feels cool and light and fresh and fun. I’ve been reading that healthy intentional hair is replacing high maintenance styles! I don’t know yet how high maintenance this will be til I wash and style it myself! But I like it! It makes me feel sassy!! And Mr. B likes it.”
This was a nod to Mark Burnett, who married Roma in 2007. A television producer, Burnett is known for creating The Apprentice. He also produced Survivor, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?, Shark Tank, and The Voice.
Burnett wasn’t the only one to like the new look. Taking to the comments, fans shared their reactions to the star’s chic look. While many followed her since her Touched by an Angel days, and remembered her red locks, they felt her new look was worthy of compliments. Some comments included:
