Democrats Kill Trump’s Mail In Voting Election Interference

Donald Trump is like a Scooby Doo villain because at the end of each of his malevolent episodes, the plot fails, and it always comes down to him almost getting away with the scheme, except for someone who stood up and took the president to court.

In the case of Trump’s effort to interfere with mail-in voting and disenfranchise up to 30% of the electorate through an executive order that his USPS was all too happy to attempt to implement, the president would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for a group of Democratic run states that challenged him at every turn.

The leader of this effort was California AG Rob Bonta, who appeared on MS NOW’s The Rachel Maddow Show on Monday night and said:

What we really wanna emphasize here is that the Trump administration lost at the federal trial court level, they lost at the appellate court level, and then they lost at the US Supreme Court. And this is a critical stay that preserves the right to vote by mail which is used in all 50 states, some more than others, including in California. And the right to vote is the that fundamental right from which all other rights flow.

And so this is a very important day for the rule of law, for democracy, and sometimes we gotta take this one all the way to the top, to the US Supreme Court to win, but we did win. We stayed in this fight. Very proud of our group of attorneys general from across the states, working hard, fighting hard to protect rights and freedoms, including your right to vote.

And your final point is also one I wanna emphasize, that now it’s, it is business as usual. There are many ways, many days to vote. You can vote by mail. You can cast your ballot in the mail and receive it through the mail. You can cast it, ca- drop your ballot in a dropbox. You can go in person and drop your ballot there or vote in person with a in-person ballot. All the ways and days are now available to you, and Trump’s attempt to interfere with and infringe upon your fundamental right to vote for whatever reasons, whether it’s his tanking polls or or his conspiracy theories that he’s advancing those have been put to an end in this election by this very important ruling.

So we’re grateful for it. It’s what we sought. It’s what It is the right outcome and the right ruling, and we’re grateful that we have this certainty as we approach the election just 50 days away.

    Video:

Bonta said that a stake has been driven through the heart of Trump’s chaos and election interference, “ For this November, the interference that Trump tried to visit upon our elections, our vote-by-mail election system through this unlawful executive order is it, put a knife to its heart or a stake through its heart. It’s done. It’s over. It cannot be resurrected. The final word has been dictated and declared by the highest court in the land. So there will be no interference in the US Postal Service by Trump through this executive order.”

Trump will try other methods of election interference, but he is obsessed with vote by mail, and his plan might have been successful if it wasn’t for Democrats fighting back to protect the vote.
