I Think Aaron Thorsen Needs To Return For The Rookie Season 8 (He Had So Much To Offer)

I Think Aaron Thorsen Needs To Return For The Rookie Season 8 (He Had So Much To Offer)

There was one noticeable absence from season 7 of The Rookie. Aaron Thorsen, accused murderer-rich-kid-turned-cop, did not make a return after 3 seasons on the show. After having a few major arcs in his three seasons, it was strange that he seemed to just be written off the show. With very little explanation, we were told that Aaron Thorsen transferred out of Mid-Wilshire and to the North Hollywood Division of the LAPD, and he is mentioned only a handful of times by other The Rookie characters.

Aaron made great progress during his time as a rookie and was gearing up to be a great cop like Celina. It was a shame that we were not able to see it, but there is still a chance. Aaron’s story is still not done with the team and needs to be brought back in season 8 to continue those stories. He was far too important to just write off like that, and he deserves to have his story fleshed out in a way that does him justice.

The Door Is Open For Aaron To Make A Return

His Transfer Allows Him The Opportunity To Make An Appearance

There was speculation that Aaron did not live after the events of season 6, but it was confirmed that Aaron just switched divisions. Even though Aaron is no longer in the same division as the rest of the cast, it does not mean he is gone forever. Despite Aaron’s departure from The Rookie, he is still alive and well, allowing him the chance to make a return in the future. As of right now, Aaron is just getting a little bit of breathing room before he is reintroduced back into the show.

Last season, we saw Aaron going through a lot of emotional struggles and was even shot at the end of the season. It would make sense for him to want some distance to continue his growth journey. This does mean that he has to return. His absence has raised too many questions for fans, and it is time for us to get some answers. Aaron has been on a healing journey that we have not seen onscreen, telling us that he will have a lot of stories to catch us up on.

EXCLUSIVE: The Rookie season 7 intensifies one villain’s threat, but the showrunner explains why another villain managed to narrowly escape capture.

There has to be a reason that a character that was in 3 full seasons of The Rookie would be left out of one. If Aaron doesn’t return, it would feel like we spent all of this time with this character for nothing. He made incredible progress throughout his time in Mid-Wilshire, and we should see how he is applying his skills at a new precinct.

Aaron And Celina’s Relationship Still Needs To Be Explored

Their Bond Is Unbreakable And Deserves More Screentime

Aaron and Celina developed a unique bond as they went through the rookie program together. Not only did they have a strong professional relationship, they were great friends outside of work. They spent time playing D&D and talking about everything. It was a closeness that feels ignored in season 7 because he was not present. Aaron just leaving Celina like that at Mid-Wilshire is something that needs to be brought back up.

Before they should even consider a romantic relationship between them, Aaron needs to rejoin Celina’s life onscreen in order to see where they stand on that front.

Before Aaron left, he admitted to feelings for Celina. Although she did not reciprocate those feelings, she still wanted to be his friend and continued to risk her life for his. There was some awkwardness after this confession, but it was something Aaron was creating. Celina let it slide because she appreciated him as a friend too much and did not want to lose that. Before they should even consider a romantic relationship between them, Aaron needs to rejoin Celina’s life onscreen in order to see where they stand on that front. There could be room for a romantic relationship in the future, but right now they are better off as friends in The Rookie.

All episodes of The Rookie are available on Hulu.
