Sophie Turner, Kit Harington Star as Lovers in ‘The Dreadful’ Trailer

Sophie Turner, Kit Harington Star as Lovers in ‘The Dreadful’ Trailer

Sophie Turner and Kit Harington’s on-screen romance is heating up in a new trailer for their upcoming gothic thriller The Dreadful.

Turner and Harington star as lovers in Natasha Kermani’s horror film, which follows Turner’s Anne as she grapples with her feelings for Jago (Harington) and her troubled relationship with mother-in-law Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden). The Dreadful represents a reunion for the pair as Turner and Harington previously appeared as half-siblings Sansa Stark and Jon Snow on eight seasons of the HBO series Game of Thrones.

In the trailer, Anne is shown living with an increasingly possessive Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden) while she awaits the return of her husband, who is at war. The two women are “living on the outskirts of society” in medieval England, which leads to Morwen stealing from strangers (she is shown slitting a man’s throat after he brings a gift for Anne).

Anne soon learns that her husband did not survive the war as she grows closer to Jago, who has returned from combat. Morwen warns Anne that she must “be very cautious not to give into sin” as the dynamics escalate between the trio.

Harington told E! News in November 2025 that playing Turner’s love interest was “a bit weird.”

“She was [the] one that sent that movie to me and somehow didn’t see what I saw in it,” Harington said at the time. “I was like, ‘These guys, these are lovers, right?’ I felt very odd about that.”

He added, “It was slightly embarrassing, having to get on an apple box to kiss her because she’s about a foot taller than me. But other than that, my dignity was pretty intact.”

Turner echoed her co-star’s sentiments, telling Vogue in July 2025 that the reunion was “really weird for all of us.” The Tomb Raider actress doubled down on their shared feelings of discomfort two months later in an interview with Seth Meyers. She told the late night host at the time that both she and Harington were “retching” during their first kissing scene for the film.

“I’m like, ‘Oh, shoot … that’s my brother,’ ” she said. “But it’s such a good script that he was like, ‘We kind of have to do it.’”

While the reunion may have been slightly uncomfortable for the former on-screen siblings, it did make their friendship closer. Harington told E! that The Dreadful was “a good chance to be with [Turner] again and work together.”

“What was lovely is that we got on set together and our friendship completely ignited again,” the Industry star said. “It felt like being with family. It really did.”

The Dreadful hits theaters, on demand and digital on Feb. 20.
