    40 Ways to Celebrate Spring

    40 Ways to Celebrate Spring

For the longest time, March felt like a waiting game. Stuck between winter’s chill and spring’s first bloom, it never seemed to have an identity of its own—especially growing up in New England, where “Mud Season” was the only thing on the calendar. But over the years, I’ve learned that a March bucket list is the perfect way to embrace the month for what it truly is: a chance to reset, refresh, and find joy in the small things.

That’s where this list comes in. Whether you’re planning a spring getaway (or indulging in a staycation), adding fresh energy to your routines, or simply soaking up the longer days, these 40 ideas will help you make the most of the month. Because why wait for summer to start living fully?

Your Ultimate March Bucket List: 40 Ways to Celebrate Spring

From simple daily rituals to exciting new adventures, consider this your go-to guide for making March feel like more than just a transition. Pick a few ideas or challenge yourself to complete them all—either way, you’ll step into spring feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready for what’s ahead.

    Outdoor Adventures & Movement

    1. Hop on your bike. Biking is a beautiful way to see your city in a new light, get to where you’re going, bond with your family and friends, and work in a little joyful movement. Wins all around.

    2. Embrace play as exercise. Movement doesn’t have to look like hitting the gym day in and day out. Connect with the things that bring you joy. Remember, you’re allowed to have fun.

    3. Take a daily walk. Now that the temps are warming up and there are more sunny days in the forecast, why not make the most of the brighter weather? Bonus points if you take one after eating—it could help regulate your blood sugar.

    4. Visit your city’s botanical gardens. If there’s still snow on the ground where you are, embrace the beauty of nature indoors and visit your local botanical gardens. Up for the adventure? Consult this list of the country’s best.

    5. Dine al fresco. This is arguably one of the best parts of spring—the opportunity to eat outdoors. Soak up all the fresh, crisp air and locate a few restaurant patios you’ve been wanting to check off your list.

    6. Kick back at a rooftop bar. Level up your spring social calendar—yes, literally. Find the best rooftop bars in your city and plan an after-work date. Bonus points for breaking out that new, perfect-for-spring dress.

    Style & Beauty Refresh

    7. Refresh your spring wardrobe. With warmer days on the horizon, now’s the time to pull out all of your favorite spring dresses, skirts, and shorts. If you need help making space in your closet, look no further than this step-by-step cleanout.

    8. Shop vintage. Take delight in scoring a deal and supporting sustainable fashion. Map out the local second-hand and thrift stores you want to visit in your area, and make a day of it!

    9. Try a new LBD. The little black dress effortlessly transitions from day to night with its understated elegance and versatile charm. And yes, your closet needs this timeless wardrobe essential.

    10. Try a minimalist makeup routine. With spring on its way, now’s the time to do away with the heavier products and opt for a more natural look. I’m investing in this much-buzzed-about minimalist set for glowy makeup, all season long.

    11. Add pastels to your color palette. Whether in your wardrobe, incorporated into your décor, or even painted on your nails. We could all do with a little more brightness in our lives.

    Travel & Exploration

    12. Plan your warm-weather travel. Speaking of the sunny days ahead, there’s no better time to plan your summer vacays. To make the planning process all the more fun, create a vision board of what your dream vacation looks like. Let that guide you toward a vibe, a destination, and an itinerary—and be sure to book those tickets asap!

    13. Take a staycation. A staycation is the perfect way to unwind and recharge without the stress of travel, offering a chance to explore your city like a tourist.

    14. Check all of your travel documents. Don’t let your dream vacay pass you by because your passport has expired. Do a quick check of all of your documents to make sure they’re up to date. I also finally got TSA pre-check and it couldn’t have been more worth the cost. Highly recommend.

    Home & Garden

    15. Plan an indoor herb garden. There’s no greater delight than growing herbs indoors—even while it’s still freezing outside. Steal our tips for getting your green thumb in shape.

    16. Update your space for spring. Lighten up your space with all the new décor. Curate photos and prints, rearrange your larger furniture pieces, and even slap on new paint. If the temperatures allow, open the windows. Fresh air makes all the difference.

    17. Spring clean your home. There’s nothing better than doing a deep cleaning of your space. And for those spaces you’re probably not cleaning—but should be—let Camille’s expert tips guide your way.

    18. Embrace perfectly imperfect design. Inviting a wabi-sabi ethos into your home welcomes a sense of ease—an appreciation for the beauty found in impermanence and simplicity. Prioritize natural textures, organic shapes, and meaningful objects for a home that feels warm and effortlessly serene.

    19. Map out your dream backyard. Transform your backyard into a serene retreat with thoughtful landscaping that blends beauty and functionality. From lush greenery to cozy outdoor spaces, these backyard landscaping ideas can help you design a peaceful oasis right at home.

    Creativity & Connection

    20. Support a local initiative. Find something you love and do all you can to support it. Every effort counts, and something as small as becoming a member at your local library, planting an outdoor garden, or shopping at a local farmer’s market can make a difference. You’ll be surprised by how good it feels to support your local community.

    21. Celebrate St. Patty’s Day with DIY crafts. It’s not easy being green—except on March 17. Get your creative juices flowing and invite your kids in on the fun! Martha Stewart’s got us covered with this list of crafts.

    22. Make a jar of positive affirmations. I’ve been doing this since I was a kid, and it always brings me joy. Write your favorite positive affirmations on paper, cut them into strips, and place them in a Mason jar. Each morning, pull out one that you’ll carry with you all day. Let it guide your energy and serve as a kind reminder that you’re always enough.

    23. Host a game night. With friends or with the fam, there’s little more fun than a weekend game night. Order pizza in, ask everyone to bring a beverage or snacks, and pull out all the best game night games.

    24. Throw a garden party. Even if you don’t have a garden, you can decorate your patio space with vases filled with your favorite blooms, serve your go-to treats, and brew a crave-worthy tea. For more inspiration, let this gallery of gorgeous garden parties guide your way.

    Food & Drink

    25. Embrace all the spring produce. Strawberries, artichokes, and asparagus, oh my! Explore our full list of all the best springtime fruit and veg—and all the tasty recipes to cook with it.

    26. Try a new spring cocktail. May we suggest Camille’s favorite? Or, how about this strawberry rosé sangria? If you don’t drink, simply swap in your non-alcoholic faves. We can’t get enough of these zero-ABV picks.

    27. Make a spring treat. Strawberry shortcake, anyone? How about a four-ingredient fruit fool? Or for the citrus lovers among us, perhaps a gluten-free lemon bar?

    28. Switch up your breakfast routine. Our food editor is now a self-proclaimed converted breakfast person, thanks to this Turkish eggs recipe. It’s so easy to throw together—and be sure to steal her tips for perfect poached eggs.

    29. Bake with edible flowers. Steal an expert’s tips for botanical baking and try these surprisingly easy shortbread flower cookies.

    30. Experiment with grain-free baking. This one-bowl salted chocolate cake is the ultimate dinner party dessert, and there’s a reason Camille’s gluten-free zucchini muffins went viral.

    Self-Care & Personal Growth

    31. Revamp your morning ritual. A morning routine isn’t just about productivity—it’s a sacred space to reconnect with yourself before the world rushes in. By curating an AM ritual that aligns with your values and nourishes your well-being, you transform the first moments of the day into a foundation for clarity, intention, and quiet joy.

    32. Buy yourself the flowers. PSA: This doesn’t have to be a super expensive bouquet. I like to go to Trader Joe’s or the farmer’s market to load up on individual stems. From there, let your creativity run wild. It’s the most budget-friendly way to enjoy a custom, gorgeous arrangement.

    33. Take a detox bath. A detox bath offers more than just relaxation—it’s a rejuvenating ritual that nourishes both body and mind. Add soothing ingredients like Epsom salts, essential oils, and detoxifying herbs for a sanctuary that helps you unwind from the stresses of everyday life.

    34. Check in with your vision journal. Did you set your intentions with us at the beginning of the year? If not, be sure to grab your Vision and Goal Setting Workbook. Take time to reflect on your intentions and goals for the year. What does your progress look like? How could you switch up your habits to help you get closer to your goals?

    35. Embrace a restful Sunday. Romanticizing your Sunday is about embracing the simple pleasures and creating a day that nurtures both your body and soul. By setting aside time to unwind, reflect, and recharge, you can make every Sunday feel like a celebration of rest and self-care.

    36. Celebrate the first day of spring. For some reason, I always forget about the official kickoff to the month until after it’s passed. Not this year! Spend March 20 getting outside, preparing a picnic, and indulging in your favorite spring blooms.

    37. Find a new hobby. Spring is the perfect time to cultivate new hobbies that align with the season’s energy, from outdoor adventures to creative pursuits.

    38. Throw pottery. Everyone’s taking ceramics classes, and it’s such a fun way to explore your creativity and get your hands dirty. Consider signing up with a friend!

    39. Write letters. In this age of quick texts and shorthand exchanges, a letter can be an opportunity to tell the people in your life how much they mean to you. I always love dropping in little paper trinkets as an additional surprise and delight.

    40. Make your wish for spring. Like an intention, but gentler. If you could make one wish for the next few months, what would it be? Infuse it with hope, kindness, and self-compassion. March has beautiful things in store for us all.
