‘Sound Of Freedom’ Stays Strong At Box Office As Woke ‘Barbie’ Movie Dominates

The woke Barbie movie may have been the top box office hit of the weekend, but the low-budget independent film Sound Of Freedom is continuing to hang in there as a major financial success. Despite not having the backing of mainstream Hollywood, Sound Of Freedom still managed to secure third place at the box office in its third weekend of release behind Barbie and Oppenheimer, both of which debuted on Friday.

    Welp, watched Barbie

It’s as carcinogenic as you’ve heard, and even worse. It doesn’t even have a “so bad it’s good” value. It’s a constant political pamphlet with the distorted idea of what a woke feminist thinks the world is.

Sound Of Freedom Stays Strong At Box Office

Sound Of Freedom, which is based on the true story of former Homeland Security agent Tim Ballard quitting his DHS job to devote himself to stopping child sex trafficking, earned approximately $20 million over the past three days. Angel Studios, the production company behind the film, has stated that Sound Of Freedom has made just under $125 million since it debuted on the Fourth of July.

“Sound Of Freedom is continuing its unbelievable ride,” Brandon Purdie, the head of theatrical distribution at Angel Studios, told The Washington Examiner. “Word continues to spread, and crowds are continuing to show up, which is how this film ended up doing more business in its third weekend than its first.”

“As we begin to look toward the international box office, Angel Studios intends to continue to push here at home,” he continued. “We want every American to see this landmark film.”

    Barbie Dominates Box Office

The biggest hit of the weekend, however, was the woke feminist movie Barbie, which broke the record for the biggest opening weekend of the year by making $155 million, according to Variety. The film was directed by the feminist actress and director Greta Gerwig, and it stars the Hollywood A-listers Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Second place at the box office this weekend went to the Christopher Nolan-directed R-rated historical drama Oppenheimer, which made $80.5 million.

“This is an unequivocally great weekend for moviegoing,” said David A. Gross, who is head of the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research. “Barbie and Oppenheimer are complementing each other at the box office, not taking audience from each other.”

While by all accounts Oppenheimer appears to be a film that all sides of the political spectrum can enjoy, Barbie has been widely slammed by conservatives, with the rightwing personality Ben Shapiro going so far as to describe it as being “one of the most woke movies I have ever seen.”

In a 43-minute review of Barbie that he posted to YouTube, Shapiro warned that the movie was “explicitly designed to divide men from women,” describing it as “angry feminist claptrap that alienates men from women.”

    Conservatives Call For Barbie Boycott

After watching an early screening of Barbie, Ginger Gaetz, the wife of Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), called for a boycott of the woke movie.

“Thinking about watching the Barbie movie? I’d recommend sticking to getting outfit inspiration and skipping the theater,” Ginger began on Twitter. “Here’s why: The Barbie I grew up with was a representation of limitless possibilities, embracing diverse careers and feminine empowerment. The 2023 Barbie movie, unfortunately, neglects to address any notion of faith or family, and tries to normalize the idea that men and women can’t collaborate positively (yuck).”

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has also spoken out to claim that Barbie is spreading “Chinese propaganda” to American children.

“There’s a scene in Barbie, where there is this map of the world, and it’s drawn like with crayon,” Cruz said earlier this week. “I mean, it’s really a very simple cartoon. And so they have this blockish thing that is called ‘Asia.’ And then they’ve drawn what are called the nine-dashes.”

“This is Chinese communist propaganda in which the Chinese are asserting sovereignty over the entirety of the South China Sea,” he continued. “And they don’t have any right to it under international law, but they are trying to take it away from their neighbors there.”

.@tedcruz: “The press likes to mock this and be like, ‘Oh, come on, why are you talking about something like Barbie?’ Because Hollywood letting the Chinese communists dictate what is in American films is a real threat, and we need to call them out.” pic.twitter.com/euc8zVXiyZ

While the success of the woke Barbie movie is disturbing, it is comforting to see that a movie like Sound Of Freedom is still hanging in there at the box office. Unlike Barbie, which had the backing of mainstream Hollywood and a massive promotional campaign behind it, Sound Of Freedom has not had any mainstream support from the entertainment world, yet Americans have still been flocking to see it.

Barbie may have taken the crown as the top box office hit of the weekend, but the silent majority is still making sure that Sound Of Freedom is a huge success as well.
