The America’s Next Top Model winner Adrienne Curry was following suit with many Hollywood stars when she chose to get breast implants. Little did the ANTM winner know it would be her worst nightmare. Adrienne opened up about her gruesome journey with plastic surgery.
Why Did The ANTM Winner Get Surgery?
Adrienne Curry explained why she chose to have the breast implant surgery done. Adrienne shared that she and her brother share a birth defect. The birth defect had affected how her breasts looked. However, this turned into an insecurity of hers. The season 1 ANTM winner said,
“I was young, and my boobs were absolutely perfect. I had a full, full B, small C, and I felt like they were fine, but I always knew I had a genetic defect that was way more noticeable when I had no boobs because my brother has it too-the right side of my chest is concave. It looks like someone ran and kicked me in the chest.”
The model said she was fine with the look of her breasts until a guy she was dating made a hurtful comment that she held with her. Adrienne shared that she was allowed to get silicone breast implants before they were allowed as a result of her genetic deformity. The ANTM model says that looking back at young her, she would “give anything to look like you for now.”
The Procedure That Was Supposed To Spark Confidence
Adrienne Curry the America’s Next Top Model Season 1 winner, now 42 years old, shares her struggle. In 2006 she got silicone breast implants to help camouflage her genetic deformity in her chest. She said she “was stoked because of that deformity thing, that I was able to get silicone when no one else could because it wasn’t on the market yet.” She went on to share that “plastic surgeons do not educate you on the risks. They breeze by everything, they act like you won’t ever have them. She got her breast implants done by “the best of the best” in Beverly Hills, spending $15,000. After getting the silicone implants the ANTM model’s body immediately rejected them.
Adrienne said that she had “extensive nerve damage. I couldn’t lift my arms without pain”. She went on to share that she was never educated on how the implants could impact her overall health and ability to be active.
The America’s Next Top Model Worst Nightmare Comes To Life
Adrienne Curry went on to say that the surgery “permanently damaged my pectoral muscles, and my right boob bottomed out.” She shared that she went back to her surgeon asking for them out. They talked her into a revision, costing $15,000 more dollars.
After trying to talk herself into believing they were fine because she had revisited the doctor to make sure the implants were in place and not leaking. Her fears were realized. However, by the time she finally went in to get the implants removed, they found that they were leaking. The leaking implants consequently caused the tissue to become necrotic and need to be removed. She shared that her thought was “did I just almost, essentially, have a mastectomy?”
Altogether Adrienne Curry, America’s Next Top Model Season 1 winner, went on to say that it all happened “because of vanity.” She has left Hollywood in the past and is finally comfortable in her own skin after the awful journey she endured for 17 years with her implants.
