Rosie O’Donnell speculated on why President Donald Trump is “so obsessed” with her, decades after their public feud began.
On the July 17 episode of the Work in Progress With Sophia Bush podcast, O’Donnell, 64, shared her theory about the ongoing beef the POTUS, 80, has with her.
“It’s so crazy to me, Rosie,” Bush, 44, said. “He’s so obsessed with you.”
To that, O’Donnell said, “I have a theory. We both grew up on Long Island. He grew up in Queens; I grew up in Commack… He grew up with girls like me: tough, probably gay, Irish girls who didn’t take s*** from no stupid, rich-boy wannabe – a**hole, liar, megalomaniac, no social skills, no empathy, no compassion. I would have told him to his face in third, fourth, fifth grade.”
She continued, “And I think when I did it to him. quote unquote, on The View, he couldn’t believe that I had the balls to attack him. Because he thinks he is heralded, and held up, and belongs on Mount Rushmore, and, you know, solved 108 wars, and is the No. 1 person on ‘Tic Tac.’”
Additionally, O’Donnell claimed, “This is the president of the United States of America. Doesn’t understand that he’s being tested for dementia when he brags about acing his cognitive tests. It’s absolutely unbelievable.”
In December 2006, O’Donnell called out Trump as a “snake oil salesman” and “not a self-made man,” per People, also criticizing him after he allowed the Miss USA winner to keep her title following controversial behavior.
Trump responded to her on-air comments by calling her a “woman out of control” and a “real loser.”
More recently, the president threatened to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship after she spoke out about their feud following her move to Ireland. The former Rosie O’Donnell Show host then issued a scathing takedown of Trump, writing in part, “You want to revoke my citizenship? Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. I’m not yours to silence I never was.”
